Over the weekend of March 23-24, MCHS Future Business Leaders of America members convened at the 2019 State Leadership Conference with 1150 members, advisers, and guests in Charleston, SC.  The conference provided the students an opportunity to compete in over sixty academic events as well as attend very informative workshops. Each event requires students to demonstrate and apply their knowledge to real world business scenarios.  Workshop topics provided a wealth of information about leadership, networking, transitioning from FBLA in high school to PBL at the collegiate level.

Kenyatta McLaughlin and LaRon Evans represented Marlboro County High School in the Insurance and Risk Management event. Laron Evans placed fourth in the event. He is eligible to compete at the National Leadership Conference this summer in San Antonio, Texas.

Other members attending were Yasmine Platt and Milton Stubbs, who served as voting delegates to elect the new state officers’ team for the 2019-20 school year. Voting for officers is a part of the conference as well as lesson in our democracy. Accompanying the students were Adviser, Ms. H. Watson and Mrs. Karen Larkins, BEM-FBLA Adviser.
