DECA Students Attend the Career Conference

Tramont MilesCHS DECA students traveled to North Charleston, SC for the DECA Career Conference February 22-24. Congratulations to Tramont Miles for being named the Vice President of Hospitality of SC DECA. He will represent our state through February of 2020. The following DECA students also took the stage in the top 10 of their event combining test and role play scores: Craig Graham, Automotive Services Marketing, Careka Townsend, Restaurant & Food Service Management, Ashanti McKever and Jalyn Armfield, Buying and Merchandising Management Team Decision Making, Tyree’s Sloan and Janiqua Watson, Entrepreneurship Team Decision Making, Johnathan Jacobs and Yasmine Platt, Hospitality Services Team Decision Making, and Tramont Miles and Haley Branton, Travel and Tourism Team Decision Making. Tramont Miles, Kayse Hicks and Johnathan Jacobs submitted our Program of Work, that received a Gold status and qualified us to attend the International Career Development Conference in Orlando Florida in April.  John Davis, Yasmine Platt and Careka Townsend were awarded the Hospitality Certification for highest test scores. Students also attended a Leadership Academy workshop in developing 21st Century skills. Jalyn Armfield, Damario Brown and Damiya McLaurin represented our chapter as voting delegates.  MCHS DECA was also recognized by SC DECA for reaching gold membership status. SC DECA is celebrating 76 years as we continue to develop emerging leaders in marketing, management, finance and entrepreneurship careers.
