MCHS Goldrush Dance Team Competition

The Marlboro County High School Goldrush Dance Team attended the 2014 Regional Dancemakers Convention and Competition on March 22 and 23 in Charlotte, NC. The team participated in master dance classes from award-winning choreographers and competed Saturday evening. At the awards ceremony, the team received first place for their jazz dance routine and qualfied to compete in the National Dancemakers Competition this June.                    7th Annual Youth Leadership Academy

On Monday, March 10, 2014, fifteen sophomores from Marlboro County High along with over four hundred students from 35 other high schools in South Carolina attended the 7th Annual Youth Leadership Academy at Costal Carolina University presented by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.

The students were greeted by Dr. David A. DeCenzo, President of Coastal Carolina University; Brad Dean, President & CEO, Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and Keynote Speaker: Cory Bailey, CCU Football Recruiting Coordinator/Defensive Line Coach.

The students participated in breakout session topics that addressed cyber bullying and cyber safety, and opportunities for leadership roles.   These students will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing leadership opportunities at Marlboro County High and in the community.

Maria Maderal to Attend Science P.L.U.S. Institute

Roper Mountain Science Center, a facility of Greenville County Schools, is pleased to announce that Ms Maria Maderal, who teaches at Marlboro County High School, has been selected to attend the Science P.L.U.S. Institute during the summer of 2014. The Institute, 100% funded by a South Carolina Education Improvement Act (EIA) grant, gives intensive training in science teaching methods and activities to public school science teachers from throughout the State of South Carolina. The Institute emphasizes the Center’s belief that all students deserve a good science education.   READ MORE...
