Principal's Message
Welcome to the Marlboro County High School Website. Our goal is for all students to become lifelong learners. Our mission is to educate and enable all students to achieve their highest potential. Every decision we make is based on what is best for our students. We are excited about the 2012-2013 school year. Last year our seniors were awarded more than 6 million dollars in scholarships and we hope to surpass that number this year. Some of the programs we offer are dual credit courses through Northeastern Technical College, Advanced Placement courses, Oasis Reading using Metametrics and differentiated math instruction using Khan Academy. We also offer HSAP courses to help students on the South Carolina High School Exit Exam. Additionally, we offer SAT and ACT courses throughout the school year. Our End of Course test results have risen over the past year and we look forward to increasing these scores even more. We will be on a 4x4 block schedule this year and are excited by the possibilities this offers us. Seniors in good standing will be allowed to leave campus for lunch each day if they so choose. We are in the process of implementing our Freshman Academy to engage all of our students and create a more harmonious and nurturing learning environment.
I would encourage all students to get involved in an extracurricular activity whether through one of our clubs or athletic events. Marlboro County High School is a leader in our conference through our sports programs. The football team, girls’ basketball and baseball team won the conference championship last year. This year we hope to go deep in the playoffs. Our “Gold Rush” dance team has won numerous awards at the direction of Ms. Bonnie Stillwell. We are always looking for new people in our marching band.
